Day 3: Leave, Weave, Discard or Donate

Day 3 of “LEAVE, WEAVE, DISCARD or DONATE”, my at home artist’s residency:

○ Despite it being hot and very humid I persevered and got my pipe loom assembled out on the deck! Detail shot shows the tensioning device and bungee cord stabilizer. I had all the parts I needed for this except for the threaded rods and one 6 ft. pipe which I bought last week…it was once a garment rack in my old studio.

○ I took a little break from work to spruce up my faerie garden. They like weaving too!

○ Several hours spent today sorting through old boxes of paper work. Sent 3 boxes worth out to the recycling bin. Found a few treasures, like my acceptance letter in 2001 to the Oak Park Art League. Juried in as an artist member (they no longer require this for membership!) I’ve been on the OPAL board of directors for the last 5 years too.

○ Creativity Oracle: Passion. “I must push through self-criticism to get to a place of confidence. ” Good advice. I noticed on the Art League acceptance they balanced “critique” with “complements”. As I progress on this project I’ll try to implement that.
For now the preparation part is easy to be passionate about.
