I know this doesn’t look like a quilt. (Maybe just a little if you squint?) Every summer I take on the job of Art Camp Director for the Oak Park Arts District. We offer a wonderful Two Week Camp Program in both June and August for kids ages 5 to 11 years old. Children are given the opportunity to rotate through the many artist’s studios and creative businesses along Harrison Street in Oak Park doing everything from culinary arts to painting, dance, yoga, creative writing, drawing, mixed media and of course, fiber art! The students experience what it is like to be in a professional artist’s studio. They get inspired and they inspire us! It’s what we call a win/win. I am gearing up for coordinating 50 to 70 students for each camp this summer as they move through 20 different locations. So this “quilt” is the June Camp schedule that I just finalized!!! I also finished emailing the schedule and last minute details to the teachers so that they are ready to roll next week. And I sent the schedule for each group out to the Art Camp Families! Now, all I have to do is get name tags, tote bags, first aid kits and sign in sheets ready for next week. (And teach my Saturday students and get my daughter graduated from High School on Sunday!) Should be a fun weekend!
