Working with Art Start again this year!

January 15, 2010

I’ve started to work with Ms. Betsy Parkinson’s 2nd grade class at Beye Elementary School.  Art Start is a program offered through the Oak Park Education Foundation, that creates partnerships between professional artists and the Oak Park schools to enrich the students art experience.  Artist work with a teacher and students over several weeks on a project that ties into subject matter that the students are learning about in the classroom.  We are working on an “art quilt”.  Each student will be creating two quilt blocks that tell about one of the 50 states!  This past week we started the project by hand dying the yarn and fabric that we will be using to create the quilt.  pictured here are all the fabrics hanging to dry.  I’ll keep you posted on the students progress!  ~pam
